Florida A&M, Mississippi Valley State to face off in 2013
Here’s a trending topic: Former NFL players coaching at HBCUs. You already know former Super Bowl MVP Doug Williams is doing big things at Grambling. You already know what three-time Super Bowl winner Monte Coleman is doing at Arkansas-Pine Bluff, the reigning SWAC champs. These coaches—and many more—are making serious waves at HBCUs, injecting a level of professionalism that is a welcomed breath of fresh air. The two coaches set to duel in this year’s MEAC/SWAC Challenge also have NFL experience in common. Mississippi Valley State’s Karl Morgan and FAMU’s Earl Holmes understand what that means for their programs; it’s an opportunity for continued growth—for the players making the plays and the men calling the shots.
